Well Crafted: Simple Skirt

Way back in March I bought some fabric only because I liked it, not because I had a plan for it. It kind of reminds me of a picnic tablecloth, but in a good way.

Then I found this skirt pattern. It's seriously the easiest pattern ever and she breaks down the steps really well. My piece of fabric was a one yard cut that was 18' wide. I picked up a wide piece of elastic and was ready to go.

I styled it with and without a belt, a simple black tank, and metallic flats. I had to include the photo of the kiss from my sweet little boy. Get out your sewing machines, it's time for a summer skirt!

Something Exciting...

I am very excited to share some news about our summer! I have decided to get back in the game of doing some shows and selling some goods. So I'll be participating in the 3rd Art in the Parc at Chartreuse Inc. Design firm in Lakewood! It will be held on Friday, July, 20 from 6:00-9:00. There will be food, drinks, and art by local artists. It was such a fun and cozy little event last year.

Please save the date, check out the links (you may recognize a certain handsome little babe in the photos from last year), and tell your friends. I'll of course post closer to the date with the invitation but I wanted to share the news now!

Here's what I've been working on.

Toddler bow ties galore! I have lots of fun fabrics to choose from because I buy things with no purpose from time to time...so they were here waiting to be selected!

And I'm making something for all the little girls out there too! It's been some time since I've cranked out any headbands and this fresh new style should be really fun! Plus, all of this excitement has got me working on another special project that I'll be sharing with you soon too!

A Trip to the Market

Last Saturday morning was a bit chilly but the sun was shining. We had a very early bird start to the day due to the hungriest person that I ever did meet needing food at 6:00am. A few hours later we got ready to head out on our normal trip to the market. There were lots of people standing in line on that sunny morning gathering their fresh produce for the week. We noted that there seems to be one particular stand that draws the longest lines for their strawberries, even though there are other stands that have them. We chatted with the vendors and farmers and tasted lots of interesting things including blueberry lemon goat cheese, black raspberry jam, maple syrup barbecue sauce, and hemp seed power bars. 

 

 

This week the husband and I were quite hungry so we grabbed a seat on the lawn and picked up some breakfast. He got a ham and egg sandwich on thick slices of brioche and I of course got eggplant parmesan, which turned out to be the most delicious breakfast of champions. Little man got a bag of mini cinnamon sugar donuts. He graciously shared our meals with us all while clutching a donut in each little hand.

And when you eat that much, and play that hard all before 9:30 in the morning, you need a recharge before the day can continue. All in all it was a successful trip! We came home with zucchini, strawberry rhubarb jam, strawberries, cognac fig goat cheese, spinach, and fresh eggs. Stayed tuned this week and I'll share some of the things that we cook up. This Weekend in Cleveland

Here's another round up of things to do in Cleveland this weekend. I selected three things that I hope to do. Maybe I'll see you there! Yoga Rocks the Park comes to Cleveland this Saturday in Lincoln Park in Tremont. The fun starts at 9:00 and goes until 3:00. Check it out if you can!

21st Annual Chardon Flea Market in Historic Chardon Square will feature hundreds of vendors selling vintage and collectible items from 8:00-4:00.

Holden Arboretum Bouquets Wine Tasting from 5:00-7:30. There will be live music and food sampling to go along with domestic and regional wines. Entrance is free!

Oh Summer.

Hello June! I can't believe it's here already. It's time to get the grill out, strike a match and have a little backyard barbecue. I sure hope this weather in Cleveland clears up soon because I have big plans for backyard adventures.

And we'll be spending some time at the beach this summer as well. I wish it could be at this beach...
